Project description

TATA Bombay House is a historic 95 year old privately owned four-storey building in Mumbai. TATA Bombay house serves as the Global Headquarters for the 152 year old Tata Group. The new office space that went through a renovation wears a modern look with well-designed common and collaborative spaces to meet the requirements of business today, including high-tech offices built-up with Drywall technology and a digitally-enhanced visitor experience centre. The iconic heritage building sports some fabulous artworks executed by Baaya Design in collaboration with Somaya & Kalappa Consultants. Every mural or installation, was designed to highlight a unique set of priorities that cater to a larger Tata purpose. In March 2014, it was the first heritage structure in the country to get a gold rating as a green, environmentally friendly building. Key Challenges

Superior finish and timely execution was the biggest challenge considering the project is the Global Corporate headquarters of one of the largest conglomerates in India with a strong brand legacy.
As closed stud metal framework is a new system, there were challenges in terms of understanding and installation by workers. To counter this challenge Gyproc provided prior on-site training and demonstration

To manage different labour contractors at different floors and bring their work methodology at same level.

To ensure quality work execution, Gyproc recommended two trained labour contractors and Kaishar interiors has recognised their work.

Due to fire break out that happened in 2011 in the same building, executing high performance fire rated systems with superior quality was of prime importance.
