Project description

The University of Liverpool’s new world-class teaching experience
The Yoko Ono Lennon Centre is the new home of the University of Liverpool Arts and Humanities school. The main features of the building are the remarkable Tung Auditorium with its 400-seat performance space as well as the Paul Brett Lecture theatre which is the largest purpose-built lecture space on the University Campus.

Bluegyp has taken great pride in completing the installation of the SFS, drylining, suspended ceilings, and interior finishes to this eye-catching building. The installation has included a full British Gypsum specification which incorporated the demanding acoustic requirements of the building as per the brief from our clients.

The state of art teaching and performance centre opened in March 2022 as the University’s newest world-class teaching experience. The city of Liverpool is globally renowned for its rich and diverse music history, which reaches back to the 18th century. Because of this students travel from across the globe to study music at the University. A high-quality performance space was therefore at the heart of the client’s vision when providing a brief for this project.

Owner’s testimonial
University Of Liverpool
We have used Bluegyp over the last 8 years on multiple projects of varying size and category, from Student Residences, to Offices, to Specialist Auditoriums.
The tendering procurement process has been very clear and encapsulating of all requirements including Specialist Fire Detailing. Their quality of work has been exceptional both logistically and installation of product, providing detailed records for audit traceability for maintenance purposes.
I would fully recommend them as a quality specialist installer in their field.
Architect’s testimonial

This has been a tremendously rewarding project for the team to work on. Several of us are alumni of the University so it was even more of a personal connection to the project than normal, with a desire to deliver something special on this site.
